Nickayla Abarca ID'd as Passenger Killed in Oro Grande Crash on National Trails Highway near Markham Road

Oro Grande, California (February 12, 2022) – The San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau has identified the person who died Friday evening following a head-on collision in Oro Grande as Nickayla Justine Abarca, 17, of Hesperia.
The incident took place on National Trails Highway, approximately two miles south of Markham Road, at around 5:41 p.m. on February 11.
Authorities said Abarca was a passenger in a white Ford F-150 that was traveling southbound on National Trails Highway when the vehicle crossed over the double-yellow line into the opposite lane, where it collided head-on with a northbound Ford F-150 pick-up truck.
The impact sent one of the vehicles into the embankment.

The San Bernardino County fire responded to the scene and extricated parties trapped in the wreckage.
Abarca was pronounced deceased at the scene of the accident.
Two other people were airlifted to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center with major injuries.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
