At Least 2 Injured in Nipomo DUI Car Crash on S Thompson Avenue and E Tefft Street; Driver Arrested

Nipomo, California (September 24, 2021) – At least 2 people were injured and a driver was arrested after a rollover collision that happened Thursday night at an intersection in Nipomo, the California Highway Patrol said.
The multi-vehicle pileup happened at about 8:34 p.m. on S Thompson Avenue and E Tefft Street.
As per the report, a small pickup truck that was travelling the wrong way at speeds of more than 100 mph collided head-on with two other vehicles.
The pickup truck overturned onto its roof, blocking traffic lanes. The other vehicles went about 300-350 feet off the roadway after the first impact.
Firefighters responded to the scene and blocked both lanes of Thompson.
As per the report, the crash resulted in major injuries.
Two male parties were sitting on the side of the roadway after the accident with unspecified injuries.
One of the drivers, only identified by their last name as Altamirano, was taken to Marian Regional Medical Center with unspecified injuries. That person was also arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol.
All vehicles were towed away from the traffic collision.
Authorities are investigating the incident.
