, California (February 2, 2022) – Two people were killed at the scene of a head-on crash that happened Tuesday night in East Oakland, as per a local news source.

The accident, which also left a teenage boy hospitalized, was reported at about 9:36 p.m. in the 7800 block of International Boulevard.

The collision involved a Ford Fusion and a Nissan.

According to investigators, a 26-year-old man was driving the Ford, speeding eastbound on International Boulevard in the designated lane with a 17-year-old boy as his passenger.

The Ford crossed over into the westbound lane under unclear circumstances and collided head-on with the Nissan driven westbound by a 16-year-old boy.

The 26-year-old man and the 17-year-old boy were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 16-year-old driver briefly fled the scene, but police located and detained him. He was hospitalized with a broken wrist and other injuries.

Investigators could not immediately determine if alcohol or drugs contributed to the collision.
