At Least 1 Suffers Major Injuries in Oakland Car Crash on 880 Freeway near 16th Avenue
Oakland, California (October 16, 2021) – At least one person is recuperating after being seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision that occurred Saturday morning in Oakland.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident transpired at around 8:09 a.m. on northbound 880 Freeway near the 16th Avenue overcrossing.
Oakland firefighters, paramedics and other emergency personnel responded to the scene after receiving reports about the accident.
At the scene, the responders found a Nissan sedan and a Mercedez SUV involved in the wreck.
At least one person sustained major injuries in the accident. The patient was taken to an unknown hospital for treatment.
A lot of debris from the crash was scattered in the center divider, and oil that leaked from one of the cars spilled into the Nos. 1 and 2 lanes.
The Nos 1, 2 and 3 lanes of northbound 880 Freeway just north of Fruitvale Avenue remained blocked for an unknown period following the incident.
CHP is investigating the collision.
