Juan Valencia Injured in Chico Car Accident on West 8th Street at Broadway
Chico, California (September 15, 2022) – A crash involving a suspected DUI driver injured a Chico police officer on Thursday morning at a Chico intersection, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at West 8th Street at Broadway shortly before 5 a.m.
According to the CHP, Officer Juan Valencia, 24, was driving through the intersection westbound on a green light when his vehicle was struck by a southbound 2013 Nissan that failed to stop for a red light.
Valencia sustained minor injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The driver of the Nissan, Sesar Diaz-Ruvalcaba, 25, was arrested for drunk driving and causing injury.
An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
