18-Year-Old Ojai Man Killed in Ventura Car Crash on Highway 101 near California Street

Ventura, California (December 18, 2021) – Authorities are investigating a Saturday morning wrong-way car crash that killed an 18-year-old Ojai Man and left another 18-year-old Ojai man seriously injured in Ventura.
The crash occurred at around 3:05 a.m. on northbound Highway 101 near California Street.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2007 Honda Accord, driven by a 29-year-old Santa Barbara man, was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes when it crashed head-on into a northbound 2008 Nissan 350Z.
A 2017 GMC Sierra pickup truck, driven by an 18-year-old Oak View man, headed northbound after the collision, also struck the Nissan.
Ojai Man Killed in Highway 101 Crash
Sadly, the 18-year-old Ojai Man, who was the driver of the Nissan, was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the Nissan, also an 18-year-old Ojai man, suffered moderate injuries and was taken by ambulance to Los Robles Regional Medical Center.
The Oak View man sustained minor injuries. His passenger, a 19-year-old Ojai man, was taken to Los Robles with moderate injuries.
The 29-year-old Santa Barbara man sustained major injuries and was taken to Ventura County Medical Center for treatment.
Traffic was stopped for an unknown period due to the accident.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
