According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. on the shoulder of northbound Interstate 15 near State Route 76.
Authorities said a car crashed into the back of a U.S. Postal Service semi-truck trailer under unclear circumstances.
The car got stuck underneath the trailer and caught fire.
First responders found the vehicle engulfed in flames.
One person died in the accident.
