Oceanside, Calif. – A motorcycle rider who was Hospitalized in critical condition after colliding with a pickup truck on January 4 in Oceanside died 10 days later, the San Diego Sheriff's-Coroner reported yesterday.
As per the sheriff's-coroner, Oscar Antonion Bautista, 51, of Oceanside, succumbed to his injuries at about 12:57 p.m. on Sunday, January 15 at Palomar Medical Center were he had been admitted.
The accident happened at about 5:29 p.m. on Thursday, January 4 at the intersection of N. River Road and Festival Drive.
Preliminary investigation revealed that Bautista was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on N. River Road when a GMC pickup truck heading eastbound on the same roadway made a U-turn maneuver within the intersection of Festival Drive and crossed into the path of the motorcycle.
The motorcycle collided with the pickup truck.
Emergency personnel were dispatched tp the scene. Responding paramedics located Bautista and provided lifesaving measures while transporting him by air ambulance to the Palomar Medical Center.
Bautista was admitted to the facility with a poor prognosis until January 14, at about 12:57 p.m. when he was pronounced dead.
