Oxnard, CA: Bicyclist Hit, Killed by DUI Driver on Wooley Road

, California (February 14, 2022) – A bicyclist died after being struck by a suspected drunken driver Sunday night in Oxnard, according to the Oxnard Police Department.

The deadly crash happened at about 10:18 p.m. Sunday, February 13, on Wooley Road, just east of Oxnard Boulevard.

Police said a 27-year-old Oxnard man was driving a 2018 Honda Civic eastbound on Wooley Road, approaching the intersection at a high rate of speed when, for an unknown reason, his vehicle drifted onto the south shoulder of the road, where it struck a male cyclist riding a blue BMX-style .

Bicyclist Killed in Wooley Road Crash

The cyclist died at the scene. His name has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

The Honda driver, who was not injured, was arrested and booked at County jail on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter. His bail was set at $50,000.

Wooley Road, just east of Oxnard Boulevard, was closed as the police investigated the crash.
