Bicyclist Killed in Oxnard Accident on Hemlock Street, Julio Sanchez Arrested

Oxnard, California (October 1, 2021) – A 16-year-old Port Hueneme boy died following an alleged hit-and-run collision in Oxnard Wednesday night, a local news source said.
At about 8:30 p.m., on September 29, authorities received a crash report involving a bicycle and a vehicle on Hemlock Street east of N Street.
The Port Hueneme boy was riding a bicycle west on Hemlock Street when he was rear-ended by a vehicle operated by 39-year-old Julio Sanchez of Oxnard in the same direction.
The teenage cyclist died at the Ventura County Medical Center while undergoing treatment of serious injuries sustained in the accident.
Sanchez fled the scene without rendering to the boy. The suspect was apprehended and booked into the Ventura County Jail on suspicion of hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter after his car was discovered abandoned at Hemlock and Paterson Road.
The accident is currently being investigated.
