County, California (January 18, 2022) – 60-year-old Paula Gomez of Winton was seriously injured Monday afternoon following a car crash at an intersection near Stevinson in Merced County, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The major injury collision happened shortly after 4:38 p.m. Monday, January 17, at the intersection of highways 140 and 165.

According to the CHP, Gomez was driving a 2005 Honda Civic southbound on Highway 165 at approximately 60 miles per hour when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the passenger side of a 1999 Dodge 3500 pickup towing a horse trailer westbound on Highway 140, driven by 42-year-old Ryan of Delhi.

The impact caused the Honda to overturn.

The Dodge had stopped at the intersection and was traveling at about 5-10 mph before the collision.

Major Injury Crash in Merced County

Gomez sustained major injuries and was transported to Memorial Medical Center in .

Williams complained of pain after the crash but did not need medical aid.
