Paula Gomez Seriously Injured in Merced County Crash at Highways 140 and 165

Merced County, California (January 18, 2022) – 60-year-old Paula Gomez of Winton was seriously injured Monday afternoon following a car crash at an intersection near Stevinson in Merced County, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The major injury collision happened shortly after 4:38 p.m. Monday, January 17, at the intersection of highways 140 and 165.
According to the CHP, Gomez was driving a 2005 Honda Civic southbound on Highway 165 at approximately 60 miles per hour when she failed to stop at a stop sign and struck the passenger side of a 1999 Dodge 3500 pickup truck towing a horse trailer westbound on Highway 140, driven by 42-year-old Ryan Williams of Delhi.
The impact caused the Honda to overturn.
The Dodge had stopped at the intersection and was traveling at about 5-10 mph before the collision.
Major Injury Crash in Merced County
Gomez sustained major injuries and was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto.
Williams complained of pain after the crash but did not need medical aid.
No further details about the crash were immediately given.
An investigation into the crash is underway.
