Pacoima, CA. – One person was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle early Friday morning on a freeway on-ramp in Pacoima, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The collision happened around 3:38 a.m. on the Paxton Street on-ramp to the northbound Interstate 5.
A person called authorities reporting that her friend was crossing the freeway lanes when he was hit by a car. The reporting party and her other friends, who are homeless, were blocking traffic lanes to prevent other vehicles from hitting the victim who was lying in the roadway.
Firefighters responded to the scene and found the pedestrian breathing.
The victim was transported to Providence Holy Cross Medical Center with possible injury to the abdomen.
No other details were given but an investigation into the crash is ongoing.
