The incident took place about 5:51 p.m. near 164th Avenue and Mateo Street.

The CHP report said the pedestrian was struck by an unspecified vehicle under unclear circumstances.

Alameda County sheriff's deputies and firefighters responded to the scene.

The victim was hospitalized with serious injuries.

Both eastbound and westbound lanes of 164th Avenue remained closed during the investigation.
