Encinitas, CA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Encinitas on Wednesday morning, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Department.
The incident occurred shortly before 8:30 a.m. near Encinitas Boulevard and North Coast Highway 101.
A Coaster train reportedly struck a pedestrian on the tracks under unclear circumstances.
The victim was rushed to a hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
The identity of the pedestrian was not immediately released.
The crash is under investigation.
