According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:55 p.m. on East Carson Street near Palo Verde Avenue.

Long Beach, CA. – A pedestrian died, and a driver was seriously hurt in a two-vehicle crash that happened Tuesday afternoon near Heartwell Park in Long Beach.
According to the Long Beach Police Department, the incident occurred around 2:55 p.m. on East Carson Street near Palo Verde Avenue.
Two vehicles, including a 2-door Mazda, violently collided in the area under unclear circumstances.
The Mazda went out of control after the first impact and struck a pedestrian who had been waiting at a bus stop. The car also ripped off a bus bench from its base, knocked down part of a chain link fence, and overturned against a telephone pole and wall.
The pedestrian was taken to a trauma center where they later died from their injuries.
The driver of the overturned car was also hospitalized with serious injuries.
A third person was evaluated at the scene but was not hospitalized.
Debris from the collision was scattered on the north sidewalk along East Carson Street.
LBPD is investigating the accident.
