The CHP reported that a Toyota Rav4 traveling west on Mission Road drifted into Inland Rail Trail bike path for unknown reasons

Vista, CA.– A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run accident in Vista on Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The wreck took place on Inland Rail Trail near Buena Creek Road and Santa Fe Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. July 20.
The CHP reported that a Toyota Rav4 traveling west on Mission Road drifted into Inland Rail Trail bike path for unknown reasons.
The Rav4 continued traveling on the bike path for nearly four miles before hitting a 28-year-old National City man walking near Buena Creek Road and Santa Fe Avenue.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver fled the scene after the crash.
Shortly after, authorities located and arrested the suspect, identified as Jessica Boykin, 38, of Vista, near the scene of the crash.
Boykin was booked into the Las Colinas Detention and Reentry Facility on multiple charges including homicide, hit-and-run, and DUI.
An investigation into the collision is ongoing.
