Police said a pedestrian was trying to cross the tracks when they were hit by a southbound train
Mount Vernon, WA – A pedestrian was hit and killed by a train in Mount Vernon on Tuesday afternoon, according to the Mount Vernon Police Department.
The accident took place near South 3rd Street and Montgomery Street at about 12:30 p.m.
Police said a pedestrian was trying to cross the tracks when they were hit by a southbound train.
The victim, who was not immediately identified, died in the accident.
Roads in the area were shut down following the crash.
The Mount Vernon Police Department is investigating the accident.
