Tierrasanta, Calif. – A pedestrian is dead following a crash on Interstate 15 in the Tierrasanta area, San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
According to the CHP, the pedestrian accident happened at about 1:45 p.m. on northbound Interstate 15 near Aero Drive.
CHP officials said a person was walking along the freeway when they were struck and killed by a vehicle.
The crash led to the closure of three lanes of the freeway and traffic was backed up in northbound lanes as far south as the 805 freeway exit ramps.
The name of the victim was not immediately released.
The crash remains under investigation.
