A police car was reportedly hit by another vehicle, causing it to spin and strike a pedestrian.
Hollywood, CA. – A pedestrian died, and several others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision that happened Monday afternoon near an intersection in Hollywood, the Los Angeles Police Department said.
The accident was reported around 3:50 p.m. near Gower Street and Santa Monica Boulevard.
LAPD officers and Los Angeles firefighters responded to the scene.
A preliminary investigation revealed that LAPD officers were traveling northbound on Gower Street when another car traveling westbound on Santa Monica Boulevard hit the police vehicle.
The force of the impact caused the police car to spin and hit a pedestrian.
A third car was also involved in the collision.
LAFD paramedics transported the pedestrian to the hospital in critical condition, where they later died.
Six other parties sustained minor injuries. At least one of them was hospitalized.
LAPD officers are investigating the collision.
