Chula , Calif. – The County Sheriff ‘s-Coroner has released the name of a male who was struck and killed by a vehicle in Chula Vista on February 14.
According to the Sheriff's Department, Andres Jose Villa, 34, of Chula Vista,  had dropped his cellular telephone while crossing the street within the 600 block of L Street in Chula Vista. Villa bent down to retrieve his telephone when a Ford pickup traveling eastbound on L Street struck him.

Villa was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chula Vista, Calif. – A male pedestrian sustained injuries in a Wednesday morning crash on L Street in Chula Vista.

The Chula Vista Police Department received reports about a deadly crash at around 6 a.m. on L Street near Broadway.

A man believed to be in his 30s was struck and killed by a vehicle in unclear circumstances.

The name of the deceased was not immediately established. The driver involved remained at the scene and cooperated with the officers.

During the on-scene investigation, L Street was closed between Broadway and Jefferson.

More details regarding the mishap was not provided.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
