Pedestrian Struck and Killed on Lincoln Street in Mecca

Mecca, Calif. – A pedestrian was struck and killed by b a vehicle in Mecca Wednesday afternoon, prompting a road closure on Street, according to the California Highway Patrol.

At about 12:46 p.m. Wednesday, February 14, CHP officers received a report from someone in a Gray Toyota Camry who struck a pedestrian in the area of Lincoln Street and 64th Avenue.

Deputies with the Riverside County Sheriff's Dept. and Riverside County fire crews responded to the scene shortly afterward and found a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries.

According to the CHP, the pedestrian was killed in the incident.

The crash led to the closure of Lincoln Street between 64th Avenue and Hammond Road.

The incident remains under investigation.
