Phoenix, Ariz. – Authorities are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian accident on Interstate 10 in Central Phoenix early Sunday morning.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the incident was reported on Interstate 10 near Milepost 146 at around 4:20 a.m.
A preliminary investigation indicated that the pedestrian was running in the eastbound lanes of the freeway between 7th and 16th Streets before being struck by a car.
The unidentified victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver involved stayed at the crash site and cooperated with the investigators.
All eastbound lanes of the freeway were closed at 7th Street as troopers investigated the crash but reopened just after 8 a.m.
No additional information regarding the incident was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
