Phoenix, AZ – A police officer was among two people hospitalized after a crash between two vehicles in Phoenix early Wednesday morning, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The incident took place in the area near 7th Avenue and Watkins Street shortly before 2:30 a.m.
The police officer, who was transporting a woman to a jail, was stopped at a red light when the officer's vehicle was rear-ended by a suspected impaired driver.
The officer and the passenger in their vehicle were both transported to a hospital.
The suspected DUI motorist was cited and released.
The incident is under investigation.
