Primitivo Romero ID'd as Man Killed in Napa County Crash on Highway 29 near Diamond Mountain Road

Napa County, California (February 10, 2022) – A 56-year-old Calistoga man was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision south of Calistoga on Thursday morning, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The fatal crash happened at around 9:18 a.m. on February 10 on Highway 29, just south of Diamond Mountain Road.
According to the CHP, Primitivo Romero was driving a GMC Sierra 1500 truck southbound on Highway 29 when, for an unknown reason, he crossed over the double yellow lines into the opposite lanes and collided head-on with a northbound Ford E-250 van, driven by a 51-year-old Napa man.

Romero, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Ford van driver sustained major injuries and was airlifted to a hospital. His passenger, a 33-year-old Napa man, was transported by land ambulance to a local hospital in unknown condition.
Highway 29 was closed for at least two hours following the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation.
