Authorities said Liu was crossing eastbound on Saratoga Avenue when he was hit by a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage traveling southbound

San Jose, CA – The pedestrian who was hit and killed by a vehicle in San Jose on Sunday evening has been identified as Qinghua Liu, 79, of San Jose, according to the Santa Clara County County Medical Examiner-Coroner's Office.
The accident happened on Saratoga Avenue at the Interstate 280 on-ramp at about 7:40 p.m. March 31.
Authorities said Liu was crossing eastbound on Saratoga Avenue when he was hit by a 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage traveling southbound.
Liu was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The involved motorist stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
