Rafael Miramontes ID'd as Driver Killed in Fresno County Truck Accident on Highway 99 and Manning Avenue
Fresno County, California (July 22, 2022) – Rafael Miramontes, 57, of Selma, has been identified as the driver who was killed when the sedan he was driving collided with a big rig in Fresno County earlier this month, according to the Fresno County Coroner's Office.
The wreck took place at around 7:30 a.m. July 7, on Highway 99, south of Manning Avenue.
According to CHP, Miramontes was driving a sedan on the highway when a big rig pulling a trailer merged into his lane.
The sedan collided with the trailer of the big rig and burst into flames.
Passersby stopped and helped rescue Miramontes from the burning vehicle. He was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.
A juvenile girl in the sedan was able to get out of the vehicle and was injured.
The driver of the big rig was not injured.
The CHP is handling the investigation.
