Raul Bustamante ID'd as Driver Killed in Orinda Car Crash on Highway 24 near St. Stephens Drive Off-Ramp
Orinda, California (December 13, 2021) – Authorities have identified the driver who died early Saturday morning following a traffic collision in Orinda as 32–year-old Antioch resident Raul Bustamante.
The deadly crash happened at about 1:30 a.m. Saturday, December 11 on Highway 24, just west of the St. Stephens Drive exit.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Bustamante was driving a Toyota Avalon eastbound on Highway 24 when, for an unknown reason, he lost control of the vehicle, which crashed into the back of an unoccupied Dodge Challenger parked on the right shoulder of the highway.
Victim Killed in Highway 24 Crash Identified as Antioch Resident
Bustamante was pronounced dead at the scene.
It was not clear if intoxication played a role in the accident.
The crash remains under investigation.
