Raymond Elam Identified as Man Killed in Crash on Highway 28 in Tahoe City
Tahoe City, California (July 28, 2022) – 53-year-old Raymond Elam, of Kings Beach, was the man who died in a collision involving a golf cart that happened Tuesday morning in Tahoe City, authorities said.
The accident occurred at about 6:23 a.m. on westbound Highway 28, west of Grove Street.
Elam suffered fatal injuries after his golf cart was rear-ended by a car.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the Kings Beach man was driving a white 2020 Yamaha Accumax utility bed golf cart belonging to the Tahoe City Downtown Association watering plants along the highway.
At the same time, 33-year-old Brandon Norling of Tahoe City was driving a 2018 Honda HRV westbound on Highway 28 directly behind the golf cart.
Norling approached the golf cart at an unknown speed and did not realize it was in the lane directly in front of him, ending up rear-ending it.
Elam was ejected from the golf cart, sustaining fatal injuries. Authorities said he died of blunt force trauma.
Investigators do not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident.

Tahoe City, California (July 27, 2022) – A man died after being struck by a vehicle while riding in a utility golf cart on SR 28 in Tahoe City on Tuesday morning, according to a report by the California Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred west of Grove Street at around 6:23 a.m. on July 26.
The Kings Beach resident in his 50s was in a Tahoe City Downtown Association golf cart watering plants along SR 28 when he was rear-ended by a 2018 Honda traveling at an unspecified speed.
The driver of the golf cart was ejected by the impact of the crash and died following the accident.
The CHP is investigating the crash.
