6 People Injured in Forest Ranch Car Crash on Highway 32 near Forest Ranch Road

Forest Ranch, California (January 24, 2022) – Richard Swerda, 38, of Forest Ranch, was arrested in a traffic crash that left six people injured in Forest Ranch on Saturday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The major injury collision happened at about 5:30 p.m. on January 22 on Highway 32, just west of Forest Ranch Road.
CHP said Swerda was driving a Toyota eastbound on Highway 32 when, for unknown reasons, he drifted left into the opposite lane and traveled directly into the path of a westbound Ford, driven by a 21-year-old Oroville man.
The Ford driver swerved to the left in an attempt to avoid the collision. Swerda reportedly turned his vehicle to the right and collided head-on with the Ford.
Major Injury Head-On Crash in Forest Ranch
A total of six people, including a 15-year-old and a 17-year-old, sustained injuries, ranging from minor to major.
Swerda was arrested for DUI.
Highway 32 was closed in both directions for nearly one hour due to the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
