Authorities say the 27-year-old rider was hospitalized with a fractured thighbone while his passenger was also hospitalized with two fractured vertebrae.
San Diego, Calif. – A motorcyclist and his passenger were seriously injured after colliding with a vehicle at an intersection in Otay Mesa on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash happened at about 7:21 a.m. on December 29 in the area of Highway 905 East and Britannia Boulevard and involved a white Dodge Charger and a motorcycle.
According to the San Diego Police Department, a 25-year-old man driving a Dodge Charger was stopped for the red light on the eastbound Highway 905 off-ramp to Britannia Boulevard.
At the same time, a male rider, 27, and his passenger, a 29-year-old man, were riding on an Italika FT 150 motorcycle southbound on Britannia Boulevard.
The driver of the Dodge entered the intersection on a green light and made a left turn onto northbound Britannia Boulevard. The rider entered the intersection against the red light and crashed into the left side of the Charger.
Authorities say the 27-year-old rider was hospitalized with a fractured thighbone while his passenger was also hospitalized with two fractured vertebrae.
The driver of the Charger was not injured.

San Diego, Calif. – At least one person was seriously injured Friday morning following a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and a vehicle on Highway 905 in San Diego, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The incident happened at about 7:21 a.m. in the area of Highway 905 East and Britannia Boulevard and involved a white Dodge Charger and a motorcycle.
Responding crews found at least two people who were on the motorcycle lying down in the intersection.
According to the San Diego Police Department, at least one person sustained major injuries in the crash.
No additional information regarding the crash was provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
