The rider drove into the path of an eastbound 2023 Freightliner and struck the left side of the big rig.
Modesto, Calif. – A motorcyclist was killed Tuesday afternoon after colliding with a big rig near Modesto Airpot, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened about 3 p.m. on Tenaya west of Mitchell Road.
According to the CHP, the motorcyclist was riding a 1992 Suzuki motorcycle westbound on Tenaya Drive when he crossed the double yellow lines to pass a car as they approached a bend in the roadway. The rider drove into the path of an eastbound 2023 Freightliner and struck the left side of the big rig.
The rider was transported by ambulance to Memorial Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. The name of the rider was not immediately released pending notification to the next of kin.
The driver of the big rig, identified as Shane Hebner, 44, Manteca was not injured.
The incident remains under investigation.
