Man Seriously Hurt in East Village Crash at Market and 13th Streets

East Village, California (June 21, 2022) – Authorities are investigating a major motorcycle accident that happened on Monday afternoon at an intersection in East Village, San Diego County.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened a while before 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 20, at Market and 13th Streets.
Authorities said a tow truck was heading west on Market Street towards 13th Street when its driver ran a red light at the junction and crashed into a motorcyclist. The rider was reportedly heading south on 13th Street on his Triumph motorcycle at the time of the collision.
Medical personnel arrived at the scene and attended to the rider, a 29-year-old man, who sustained severe injuries from the crash. The man suffered a burst spleen and fractured his left foot and two lower left leg bones. He was transported to a hospital for further treatment.
Officials closed the intersection to give way to the investigation.
According to police, it was not immediately known if the 42-year-old man left the scene or remained at the crash site after the accident.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
