Five Hospitalized after Riverside Car Crash on Riverside (91) Freeway at La Sierra Avenue

Riverside, California (February 6, 2022) – Five people were injured, three critically, in a wrong-way car crash in Riverside, authorities said.
At around 1:31 a.m., authorities responded to the Riverside (91) Freeway at La Sierra Avenue to investigate the report of a motor vehicle accident.
Two vehicles collided in the westbound lane of the freeway at La Sierra Avenue. Authorities said a wrong-way driver caused the crash.
Both vehicles acquired major damage due to the impact of the collision. Several people were trapped in the two wrecked cars and were extricated by firefighters.
Five patients were taken to local hospitals, three in critical condition, one with moderate injuries and one with minor injuries.
No further details about the collision were immediately provided.
The crash remains under investigation.
