According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8 a.m. at Cook Street and Gerald Ford Drive.

Palm Desert, CA. – A Riverside County sheriff's deputy was hospitalized after a collision involving two civilian cars that happened Wednesday morning in Palm Desert.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident occurred around 8 a.m. at Cook Street and Gerald Ford Drive.
At the time of the crash, the deputy was driving his patrol car south on Gerald Ford Drive responding to an emergency call when he thought it was safe to proceed through the intersection of Cook Street.
The deputy instead struck a Subaru Outback, causing it to lose control and hit a Nissan Rogue.
Both drivers of the civilian vehicles were not injured.
The deputy was taken to Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with the complaint of an injury.
It was unclear how fast the deputy was driving at the time of the collision.
CHP is investigating the accident.
