Roberto Marmolejo Killed in Vacaville Crash on 80 Freeway

, California (January 11, 2022) – The Solano County Sheriff-Coroner's Bureau has identified the man who died following a traffic collision early Monday morning in Vacaville as 43-year-old Roberto Marmolejo.

The deadly collision happened at about 5:00 a.m. Monday, January 10 on the westbound side of Interstate , between Alamo Drive and Cherry Glen Road.

Authorities said Marmolejo, a resident of , was driving a Toyota Sienna westbound on Interstate 80 when, for an unknown reason, he drifted to the left and slammed into the back of the trailer that was being towed by a Freightliner.

The Toyota rolled over multiple times after the impact.

As the Toyota was overturning, Marmolejo and his passenger, a 44-year-old woman, were both ejected from the vehicle.

Marmolejo and his passenger were taken to Kaiser Permanente Vacaville Medical Center, where Marmolejo was declared dead. The Fairfield woman had major injuries.

The driver of the Freightliner, a 43-year-old San Jose man, did not suffer any injuries in the crash.

It is undetermined if distracted driving, drugs and/or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
