Ronny Soares ID'd as Rider Killed in Gustine Motorcycle Crash on Whitworth Road and Taglio Road
Gustine, California (March 29, 2022) – Ronny Paul Soares, 49, of Newman has been identified as the motorcyclist who was killed in a crash the evening of March 23 south of Gustine, according to the Merced County Sheriff Coroner's Office.
The California Highway Patrol said the accident occurred on Whitworth Road and Taglio Road at about 4:54 p.m.
Soares was reportedly driving a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle southbound on Whitworth Road when he crashed into a northbound 2019 Honda that was making a left turn onto Taglio Road.
Soares was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other driver, George Griset, 84, of Gustine, was treated for minor injuries.
Authorities said alcohol and drugs were not believed to have played a role in the crash.
Authorities are conducting an investigation into the collision.
