Rosa Clarke Killed in Carlsbad Collision on Interstate 5 at La Costa Avenue
Carlsbad, California (October 10, 2021) – Rosa Clarke, 61, of San Juan Capistrano, succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, nearly two weeks after being involved in a traffic collision in Carlsbad, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner's Office.
Clarke was driving her vehicle southbound on Interstate 5 at around 3:02 p.m. on September 27 when she lost control on the off-ramp at La Costa Avenue and slammed into traffic barrels.
Due to the impact, Clarke's vehicle spun around and struck a pickup.

Clarke complained of chest pains after the crash and was transported to a hospital, where she went unresponsive and medical personnel administered life-saving measures on her.
Clarke's condition deteriorated on Saturday, and she succumbed to her injuries at Scripps Memorial Hospital in La Jolla.
No other details about the crash were immediately provided.
The accident remains under investigation.
Traffic Collisions in Carlsbad
According to data collected by the National Highway Traffic Safety Association (NHTSA), eight people were killed in 2017. One of those killed was a pedestrian. In 2016, there were a total of eight fatal accidents, which caused eight deaths, and five of them were pedestrians.
