Ryan Clark Among 2 Killed in Highway 70 Accident near Cox Lane in Oroville

Oroville, California (March 7, 2022) – 39-year-old Ryan Clark was among two men who died Friday night following a head-on collision in Oroville.
The crash occurred at around 11:18 p.m. on March 4 on southbound Highway 70, just south of Cox Lane.
A party called authorities reporting that a vehicle was swerving in and out of opposing traffic, almost colliding head-on with multiple vehicles. Shortly after that, the party advised authorities that a head-on collision had just occurred involving two vehicles.
Due to the impact of the collision, one of the vehicles caught on fire. Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, and Caltrans responded to the scene and extinguished the fire.
Double Fatal Crash on Highway 70 in Oroville
The responders found multiple patients and at least one person needing extrication. The firefighters extricated the victim.
The California Highway Patrol's preliminary investigation determined that a Chevrolet was heading southbound on Highway 70 when its driver swerved into the northbound lane and collided with a Toyota Camry, driven by Clark.
Clark and 23-year-old Nicholas Khraich died in the crash.
A 32-year-old woman, who was a passenger of the Camry, sustained major injuries. Another passenger in the Camry, an 18-month-old, had minor injuries. Both patients were taken to a hospital for treatment.
The highway remained completely blocked for an unknown period during the rescue and investigation.
It is undetermined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
The crash is under active investigation.
