Sabas Ruiz Galviz Killed in Taco Truck Crash at Belmont and Maple Avenues in Fresno, Rolando Alvarenga-Aguilar Arrested
Fresno, California (October 20, 2021) – A driver is facing a murder charge after one of the pedestrians he hit in a parking lot in Fresno died.
The tragic incident happened in the area of Maple and Belmont avenues at about 7:00 p.m. October 9.
The California Highway Patrol said 45-year-old Rolando Enrique Alvarenga-Aguilar, of Fresno, lost control of his van in the parking lot and crashed into a food truck and slammed into a group of patrons.

60-year-old Sabas Ruiz Galviz, who was among the patrons, was hospitalized in critical condition. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries on Monday, October 18.
A second person was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
Aguilar was allegedly driving drunk at the time of the accident. He fled the scene but was arrested at a home in the 4500 block of E. McKenzie. He now faces a list of charges, including vehicular manslaughter.
