43-Year-Old Salinas Man Killed, 4 Injured in Prunedale Crash on Crazy Horse Canyon Road

Prunedale, California (September 16, 2021) – A Salinas man was killed and four other people were injured Monday morning in a head-on collision in Prunedale in northern Monterey County, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The deadly crash happened just after 6:00 a.m. Monday, September 13, on Crazy Horse Canyon Road.
The CHP said a Nissan Altima was traveling on Crazy Horse Canyon Road when it tried to pass a Peterbilt truck. For unknown reasons, the Nissan collided head-on with an oncoming 2005 Toyota Sienna driven by the 43-year-old Salinas man.
The impact pushed the Nissan into the side of the first trailer of the Peterbilt.

The Toyota driver was taken to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His name has not been disclosed pending notification of next of kin.
Four people in the Nissan sustained major injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Authorities said neither drugs nor alcohol were suspected factors in the collision.
The crash remains under investigation.
