Samantha Poulsen Injured in Multi-Vehicle Collision on Highway 99 in Merced
Merced, California (July 14, 2022) – Samantha Poulsen, 44, of Fresno, was injured in a multi-vehicle collision at a construction zone on a highway in Merced on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the accident happened at around 2:20 p.m. on Highway 99 near V Street.
Poulsen was driving a 2019 Kenworth big rig northbound in the No. 2 lane of the highway when she crashed into the rear of a camper towed behind a GMC Yukon.
Jesse Montano, 57, of San Jose, was driving the GMC and had slowed down due to traffic ahead.
Shortly after, a 2013 Freightliner driven by Arturo Macias, 55, of Madera, attempted to avoid a collision but the truck collided with the rear of the Kenworth.
The impact of the collision caused the Freightliner to travel off the roadway and down an embankment where it came to rest near a car dealership.
Poulsen suffered minor injuries in the crash and was transported to Mercy Medical Center.
Neither drugs nor alcohol appears to be a factor in the collision.
No additional information about the accident was provided.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
