Samuel Gutierrez Killed in Pleasanton Accident on Interstate 580 near Hopyard Road
Pleasanton, California (February 13, 2022) – The teen who died in a traffic crash that happened in Pleasanton in December has been identified as Samuel Atilio Gutierrez-Chinchilla, 16, of Stockton according to the Alameda County Coroner's Bureau.
The wreck happened on Interstate 580 near the Hopyard Road interchange at around 2:35 a.m. December 19.
According to authorities, two vehicles collided on eastbound 580 and came to rest blocking the No. 2 and No. 4 lanes.
Shortly after, a third vehicle slammed into the disabled car in the No. 2 lane, causing the first car to catch fire.
According to the report, Gutierrez was a passenger in the first car and died at the scene of the collision.
Drunk driving was not suspected to have played a role in the wreck.
The incident remained under investigation.
