Police Officer Injured in Redwood City Accident on 5th Avenue and Bay Road

Redwood City, California (May 17, 2022) – A crash involving a South San Francisco police officer left the officer injured on Tuesday afternoon in Redwood City.
According to authorities, the incident took place in the area of 5th Avenue and Bay Road at around 2:25 p.m.
Authorities said a female police officer on a motorcycle was broadsided by a driver in a blue sedan that had been southbound on Bay Road and failed to stop for a red light at the intersection.
The impact launched the officer into the air.

The officer sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a hospital for treatment.
The sedan reportedly lost control and collided with a parked vehicle at a nearby gas station.
Authorities said the driver had minor injuries in the incident and remained at the scene after the crash.
The crash remained under investigation.
