1 Hospitalized with Broken Arms after San Rafael Crash on Richmond-San Rafael Bridge
San Rafael, California (January 23, 2022) – One person was seriously injured in a multi-vehicle collision that took place Saturday night on eastbound Interstate 580 in San Rafael, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The pileup occurred at around 8:28 p.m. on the Richmond-San Rafael Bridge's midspan.
A party in a blue Subaru Forrester involved in the collision called authorities reporting that several vehicles collided, including a red SUV that was totaled with a female occupant who needed help to get out of the car.
Firefighters and other emergency response personnel rushed to the scene to find five vehicles involved in the accident.
The wreck resulted in major injuries. One person was transported to Marin General Hospital with two broken arms. It was not clear if the other parties involved were injured.
Authorities are investigating to establish the cause of the collision.
