Toddler Hospitalized after Santa Clarita Crash on 5 Freeway near Lyons Avenue
Santa Clarita, California (October 27, 2021) – A 3-year-old child was hospitalized after a major injury crash that took place Tuesday evening in Santa Clarita, the California Highway Patrol reported.
Authorities responded to northbound 5 Freeway near Lyons Avenue, where two vehicles had collided at around 7:29 p.m.
At the scene, the responders found a Dodge van and another vehicle involved in the collision. The Dodge was about 50 feet off the roadway.
One of the cars caught fire after the crash, but the driver was able to get out.
Authorities said the crash resulted in major injuries. A 3-year-old child was transported to Northridge Hospital Medical Center in unknown condition.
There was no information given about whether the other parties involved were injured.
CHP is investigating to establish the cause of the collision.
