, California (December 9, 2021) – A motorcyclist sustained serious injuries following a traffic collision that happened Wednesday evening in Santa Cruz, the California Highway Patrol reported.

The major injury crash happened at around 5:12 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, on Highway 1, just north of Soquel Drive.

According to CHP, the collision involved three vehicles, including a Toyota 4Runner. The motorcyclist reportedly struck a tire of a vehicle in the southbound lane of the highway.

First responders found the motorcycle stuck in the tire.

Major Injury Motorcycle Crash in Santa Cruz

The motorcyclist, whose name was not immediately disclosed, was taken to a hospital with major injuries.

The southbound lanes of Highway 1 near Soquel Drive were closed for two hours following the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
