7-Year-Old Girl Hospitalized after Santa Maria Bicycle Accident at South Pine and West Jones Streets
Santa Maria, California (October 11, 2021) – A 7-year-old girl riding a bicycle was hospitalized after she was hit by a vehicle Monday morning in Santa Maria, according to Santa Maria police.
The crash happened just after 7:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, in the area of South Pine and West Jones streets.
Police said the girl was riding her bicycle northbound across the intersection when she was hit by a vehicle that was traveling eastbound on Jones Street.
The girl was taken to the Marian Regional Medical Center in unknown condition. She was wearing her helmet at the time of the accident, police said.
The involved driver stopped at the scene and cooperated with the authorities. Authorities did not believe alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision.
The Santa Maria Police Traffic Bureau is investigating the accident.
