1 Killed, 2 Injured in Santa Maria Crash on East Betteravia Road and Philbric Road
Santa Maria, California (May 2, 2022) – One person died, and two others were injured when a sedan collided with a semi-truck Monday morning in Santa Maria, according to authorities.
The wreck occurred at about 6:35 a.m. near East Betteravia and Philbric roads.
The vehicles collided for unknown reasons, downing power lines. The semi-truck overturned onto its side.
California Highway Patrol officers, Santa Barbara County firefighters, and American Medical Response personnel responded to the scene.
One occupant of the sedan died in the crash, and another was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
The truck driver was treated for minor injuries.
The crash left more than a dozen Pacific Gas and Electric Company customers without power following the destruction of utility wires.
Authorities closed Betteravia Road between Philbric and Telephone roads. Philbric Road was also closed at Stowell Road following the accident.
CHP is investigating the accident.
