Ridgecrest, CA – A scooter rider was hit and killed by a vehicle in Ridgecrest early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash took place on Ridgecrest Boulevard west of Mahan Street just before 12:47 a.m.
The California Highway Patrol said the rider, only identified as a female, was on an electric scooter heading east on Ridgecrest Boulevard within the traffic lanes when she was hit from the back by a 2012 Mazda 6.
The pedestrian was killed in the accident.
The driver of the Mazda, a 30-year-old Inyokern man, stayed at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
Alcohol and drugs were not suspected to have played a role in the incident.
The investigation is ongoing.
