At Least 1 Killed in Seal Beach Crash on San Gabriel River (605) Freeway and San Diego (405) Freeway
Seal Beach, California (May 30, 2022) – At least one person died following a multi-vehicle collision on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Seal Beach early Monday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
At around 3:29 a.m., authorities responded to the scene of a crash on the connector from the southbound San Gabriel River (605) Freeway onto the southbound San Diego (405) Freeway.
At least one person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
All lanes of the connector were shut down for the investigation.
The cause of the accident remained under investigation.

According to statistics by NHTSA, over 15,000 lives were saved by seat belts in crashes that happened in 2017. In 2020, 10,893 unbuckled people in passenger vehicles died in crashes in the US. 60% of the young adults (ages 18 to 34) killed in the crashes were completely unrestrained.
